Floyd McLean Jr.
Floyd McLean Jr., originally from East Orange, began his pre-professional dance training at Sharron Miller’s Academy for the Performing Arts. He went on to train through a variety of residencies and intensives including Dance Theatre of Harlem, Ballet Hispánico, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, NYU Future Dancers & Dance Makers, and Dallas Black Dance Theatre.
He earned his BFA in Modern Dance from Point Park University in 2018, where he was awarded the Don Craig Scholarship. During his time there, he performed works by various choreographers and began developing his choreographing voice.
Following graduation, McLean joined Dallas Black Dance Theatre’s DBDT: Encore! under the direction of Nycole Ray, where he was afforded multiple choreographic opportunities that further shaped his artistic voice.
He has toured, performing extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean, engaging a wide range of repertory by notable choreographers. McLean is currently in his fifth season with PHILADANCO!, where he continues to evolve as a performing artist and emerging creative voice.
