Viola Taylor (Pennsauken, New Jersey) began her dance training with Halliday Dance and Imagine… Dance Theater of Camden before continuing her training at The School of Pennsylvania Ballet, Eleone Dance Inc., and The University of the Arts. Viola holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she also earned her Mat Pilates certification. Her professional company experience began with Contemporary West Dance Theater. Throughout her career, Viola has performed works by choreographers including Ulysses Dove, Pearl Primus, Tommie Waheed-Evans, Milton Myers, and Christopher Huggins. She has performed nationally at venues including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and has participated in the International Association of Blacks in Dance Youth Track. Her performance credits also include working with Usher and performing at Roots Picnic. Viola is a multiple-time NAACP ACT-SO national medalist and recipient of the NJ Governor’s Award for Dance. She is honored to continue her professional journey as a member of Philadanco.
